Meet the PAN Committee!

 

John Fitz-Walter (Catholic sector)
Catholic sector representative; tertiary representation and partnerships; regular workshop presenter; graphic work; website development and promotions; theoretical research and presentations.

John Fitz-Walter has over 30 years teaching experience, as a generalist teacher and integrated arts teacher. He has a Diploma of Teaching, a Bachelor of Fine Art and a Master of Educational Leadership. John is also on the QSA Arts Syllabus Advisory Committee: The Arts, Board Member of Fusions, Art Working Party Member – Catholic Education. His educational experience is in primary and tertiary education (UQ, ACU, Griffith, USQ, CQU).

 

Joy Pohlner (Cannon Hill State School)
President; workshop, conference and arts professional development co-coordinator; partnerships coordinator; PAN representative in Arts Alliance; Education Queensland and other primary education capacities; collaborative strategic planning coordinator for PAN.

Joy Pohlner has a Diploma of Education and Graduate Diploma in Education Curriculum (Arts). Joy has over 25 years teaching experience in the state school sector as a classroom teacher and an arts specialist. She won the Premier's Smart State Teachers Excellence Scholarship Award in 2002 for her work in developing PAN.

 

Karen Hannay (Brisbane Grammar School)
Independent schools sector representative; regular workshop presenter; website development; project coordinator; research component and development.

Karen Hannay has over 20 years experience teaching in art education. Her experience spans primary, secondary and tertiary visual arts education. She has worked in both the state and private school sectors. Karen graduated with a Diploma of Teaching (Art Education), Graduate Diploma Curriculum (Art Education) and Master of Education (Research). She is a member of QATA (Queensland Art Teachers Association) and Fusion.
 

Carolyn Peisker (Wellers Hill State School)
Secretary; regular workshop presenter.

Carolyn Peisker has a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education from Macquarie University, Sydney. She has been a primary school teacher for over 25 years. She is currently teaching visual arts to primary students in Years 1- 5. Carolyn is also a recipient of an Australia Day Achievement Award 2008.

 

 

Lorraine Thomas (Milton State School)
Event manager of conferences; workshop presenter; presenter liaison.

Lorraine Thomas has over 20 years experience teaching in education. Her experience is in primary education with an interest in the Arts, in both state and Catholic education. Lorraine has a Diploma of Teaching, majoring in art and a Graduate Diploma of Art (leadership).

 

 

Julanne McDougall (Anglican Church Grammar School)
Catering and trades of conferences and committee meetings; workshop presenter.

Julanne McDougall is a secondary trained art teacher who has worked in both secondary and tertiary art education. She is presently working as the art specialist years 4-6 in a private preparatory school. She is a practicing artist (printmaker) and she has had exhibitions of her work.

 

 

Clare Dyer (Ironside State School)
Treasurer; conference registrations.

Clare Dyer is a visual art educator specialising in the early years. She is also a practicing and exhibiting artist. Clare has training, experience and studio practice in print-making, sculpture, silk painting, mosaics, glass fusing and silver-smithing. 

 

 

Diana Schultz (Cannon Hill State School)
Website development; graphic design and editing of promotional materials.

Diana Schultz has a Bachelor of Arts (Community Services) and Bachelor of Education (Primary). She is currently studying graphic design. Diana has six years teaching experience in the state school sector as a classroom teacher and a performing arts specialist. Prior to Diana’s teaching career, she has had a range of jobs and internships in a number of arts and charity organisations, in Australia and overseas.

 

Leah Hamilton (Brisbane School of Distance Education)
Project officer, grants and proposal development

Leah Hamilton has a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and also a Master of Creative Industries (Creative Production and Arts Management) which she completed when working with PAN. She is currently completing her Master of Special Education, in continuing her current work as a Special Needs teacher. Leah has a keen interest in The Arts and is completing her AMEB qualifications in piano.
